An overview of the Transition Process at Ysgol Uwchradd Caergybi.
What is Transition?
The move from primary to secondary can be stressful for any young person, but a well planned transition between primary and secondary phases will help remove any barriers to learning and enable pupils to reach their full potential.
At Ysgol Uwchradd Caergybi we work hard throughout the school year to ensure that our Transition Process is pupil focused - we want our pupils feeling confident, excited and prepared for their life in Year 7!
Meet The Team
The Pastoral Team manage the Transition Process from your child's first day in Year 6 to their admission into Ysgol Uwchradd Caergybi and beyond. Here are the members of staff that your child will come to know well, and your point of contact when enquiring or sharing information with us.

MEETING MR GRIFFITHS
In more detail
The pupils will be shown a presentation of a brief overlook of 'Life at YUC'. When possible, former pupils of the school will attend with Mr Griffiths and answer questions from the pupils. The pupils are staff at the primary are given a date for the Ysgol Uwchradd Caergybi Open Evening.
Ysgol Uwchradd Caergybi will open its doors to pupils in Year 6 and their parents/guardians. Throughout the evening there will be ample opportunities to meet key members of staff and ask questions. There will be presentations on ClassCharts (Behaviour Monitoring System with Parental Controls), Google Classroom and Hwb (Pupil Access to Office 365). Within Departments there will be activities for the pupils to take part in and meet their potential teachers here at YUC.
As a new initiative we offer each pupil in our catchment area the opportunity to spend a day at YUC, regardless of whether they may have already chosen a Secondary school. During these Transition Days the pupils will come with their Primary Teachers and follow a timetable of lessons, meet pupils from other schools and enjoy some of the facilities around the school.
There are two days at the end of the school year arranged for pupils who will be attending YUC to experience further Transition Days. These days focus on allowing the pupils to familiarise themselves with the grounds, the classrooms and other areas within the school. The overall goal is for each pupil to leave in full confidence of what is ahead of them come the following September!
