TRANSITION
An overview of the Transition Process at Ysgol Uwchradd Caergybi.

What is Transition?
The move from primary to secondary can be stressful for any young person, but a well planned transition between primary and secondary phases will help remove any barriers to learning and enable pupils to reach their full potential.
At Ysgol Uwchradd Caergybi we work hard throughout the school year to ensure that our Transition Process is pupil focused - we want our pupils feeling confident, excited and prepared for their life in Year 7!
Meet The Team
The Assistant Headteacher leads on Transition and chairs the Pwyllgor Pontio; a group of Year 6 teachers from the catchment area that contribute to the transition plan. Ysgol Uwchradd Caergybi are involved in the transition process from your child's first day in Year 6 to their admission into Ysgol Uwchradd Caergybi and beyond. Here are the members of staff that your child will come to know well, and your point of contact when enquiring or sharing information with us.

Mr Tristian Griffiths
Assistant Headteacher and Transition Co-ordinator
Mr Griffiths oversees the pastoral support, academic progress and overall management of the process. He introduces himself to primary catchment pupils in September and is the link between primary and secondary throughout the year.

Mrs Hannah Jaques-Williams
Head of Year 7
Mrs Jaques-Williams is the day-to-day point of contact for all things pastoral for pupils and parents. Located in Ystafell Pawb, the Hub for the entire Pastoral Team, she is always on hand to ensure that pupils pastoral needs are met. Pupils are introduced to Mrs Jaques-Williams on their first Transition Day at YUC.
