Progress Managers oversee the pastoral care and academic progress of their respective year groups (see above).

Progress manager’s responsibilities include monitoring academic progress of all pupils in their designated year groups, as well as attendance, behaviour, wellbeing and overall year group management.

Should you have a concern or query you should contact your child’s Pastoral Support Officer in the first instance, they will refer you to the progress manager if they feel that your concern is better placed with them and their role.

The Transition Co-ordinator is responsible for co-ordinating a programme of transition days for year 6 pupils at YUC and liaising with Primary colleagues to ensure that year 6 pupils are as ready as they can be for Ysgol Uwchradd Caergybi. For more information on the Transition Process please see the Transition page or #YUCiFi for our Online Open Evening.

The Pastoral Support Officers are both non teaching members of staff, they are the first point of contact for parents should they have any concerns or queries. If they themselves cannot help they will signpost parents to the relevant members of staff that can. They also work with external agencies and support services and are able to refer families or pupils for further support should they agree and require.

The pastoral support officers provide day to day support with pupil issues, providing emotional and practical support as appropriate for pupils and their parents where relevant and referring more serious incidents to the Progress Manager and Assistant Headteacher. They log interactions with pupils and take accurate witness statements in an investigation and summarise findings. They communicate poor patterns of attendance and punctuality with parents, pupils, progress manager and refer to Inclusion Officer if persistent.
